The Aston and Nechells consortium (located in the Northwest of Birmingham) consists of 18 primary schools working together to support their diverse communities. The Developing Local Provision (DLP) project focuses on helping these schools with their Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) provision in a specific, measured, achievable, relevant, and timely way.
In our first year, we acquired various resources, upskilled over 100 members of staff and the DLP Manager provided over 100 hours of support for staff implementing interventions into their weekly provisions. The project also produced a monthly newsletter to signpost further resources and communicate important dates and opportunities.

In year 2, we are working with the EP service to implement the SCERTS (Social, Communication, Emotional Regulation, Transactional Support) framework to support our schools in collocating interventions. The SCERTS® Model is a research-based educational approach and multidisciplinary framework that directly addresses the core challenges children and persons with ASD and related disabilities, and their families face.
