Key Information regarding ECT sign-up

As your local Teaching School Hub, we have a responsibility to ensure that all ECTs in the region are correctly registered for statutory ECF induction. In order to signpost you to the correct information, we are asking all schools to complete the expression of interest form regardless of whether you will have ECTs starting with you in September.

Step 1 – All schools

Time Frame:  ASAP

Please complete the expression of interest form which asks whether you intend to use the Arthur Terry TSH, North Birmingham to provide your Early Career Framework and / or Appropriate Body provision during the 24-25 academic year. Once you have completed this, the ECF team will be able to signpost you to each stage of the registration process.

Step 2 – Schools with ECTs joining them in September

Time Frame:  ASAP

Log onto the DfE portal to check that the correct Induction Tutor is nominated.   This will ensure your Induction Tutor receives the correct information to register your ECTs when the portal opens at the end of June.

Step 3 –Schools with ECTs joining them in September

Time Frame:  17th June 2024 or 20th June 2024

Attend one of the Arthur Terry TSH ECT briefings for Induction Tutors.  The TSH ECT team will be running two briefings:

  • Monday 17th June: 3.45 – 4.45. This session is for new Induction Tutors and will provide comprehensive training on the registration process and the role of the Induction Tutor.

OR

  • Thursday 20th June:  3.45 – 4.30. This session is for experienced Induction Tutors and will explore the changes in the process and factors to consider as we move into the fourth year of the ECF programme.

You can sign up for one of these briefings on the expression of interest form.

Step 4 – Schools with ECTs joining them in September

Time Frame: By 1st September 2024

All ECTs must be registered with an Appropriate Body by September 1st 2024. Once you have the full details of your ECTs, and the name of the mentors, you can register them with us on ECT manager. Please be aware that Local Authorities (including Services for Education) will cease to offer an Appropriate Body Service from September 2024 so all ECTs must be transferred to a TSH AB.

Step 5 – Schools with ECTs joining them in September

Time Frame:  From the 24th June 2024

The DfE registration portal will open on the 24th June 2024. Schools will receive an invite from the DfE to register their ECTs on a rolling basis from this date. Once you receive your invite, please register your ECTs and mentors ASAP to ensure ECTs and mentors have access to the online learning platform in September.
