Since 2006 over 4,500 primary school children have taken part in Titan Aston Olympians, a FREE sports event for Titan primary school members
The annual event started in 2006 after London was announced as the host for the 2012 Olympic Games. It’s jointly organised and run by Titan Partnership and Aston University. Held at the Sir Doug Ellis Woodcock Sports Centre at Aston University, it is designed to get inner-city Year 5 children active and introduce them to the university campus on their doorstep. They also get the opportunity to take part in activities they don’t normally get to do, such as a gym challenge, dodgeball, water polo, basketball and football.
The event aims to help young people build their confidence and self-esteem by developing skills such as team-working, leadership, resilience, perseverance and creativity.
“Titan Aston Olympians continues to provide primary pupils from some of Birmingham’s most deprived wards the opportunity to take part in a fun day of sport and get an aspirational glimpse at university life. We are incredibly proud of this event and look forward to providing this opportunity to even more young people in 2025!”
